Autobiography
Song of the Stone
In Song of the Stone
Barry shares his journey into the lore and life of the Waitaha – a
multi-tribal nation in Aotearoa/New Zealand – who lived in peace for
a thousand years.
He takes us into the spirit and teachings of the
First Nations of North America. He sees the fulfilment of ancient
prophecies, the Hoop of Life being mended, the arrival of an age of
hope where ancient wisdoms – archetypes woven into our sub-conscious
– guide us once more.
Song of the Stone is an odyssey
into universal truth where old traditions stand tall to support the
new. A true story of five remarkable, life changing, journeys.

I have just finished reading
'Song of the Stone' and wanted to express my gratitude and tell you
it is a privilege to vicariously share your journey...I was weeping
from page one and couldn't stop... I was so moved by your words I
had to take pen and paper and jot down the lines that affected me.
If I look at my list of quotes the one that I particularly love
is... Letting go, accepting without understanding, stepping out
without knowing the final destination, recognising and listening to
a voice within that was growing stronger with the trusting.
Kate Strong, Christchurch ~ 6.12.95
I have just completed reading Song of
the Stone and I am completely overwhelmed and awestruck with what
you have shared with me. You have answered many of my questions and
given me an entire new outlook...
Joanna Holmes, Herne Bay, Auckland

Song of the Stone, Brailsford's
own story about how Song of Waitaha was written, is a journey into
the deep and mysterious side of Maori culture. New Zealanders are
more willing to buy books about spiritual quests undertaken in other
lands. (The fictional Celestine Prophecy , set in Peru, has been on
the best seller list for a year or more). But its far less common to
read about strange and magical things happening here. Cynics will
keep scoffing. Seekers of the spiritual will lap it up.

Writung agin – translates as ‘writing again’
once I oil the wheels of my computer and pump up the hard drive. I’m
a bit rusty on the keyboard and have a heap of scientific articles
to read to bring me back to speed. It’s been nearly two years since
I put aside work on ‘Origins’ the working title for the book that
tracks Polynesian origins back 14,000 years and traces their amazing
voyages through the Pacific.
